My original plan wasn’t… but in the time period of actually planning the shots, I kept picturing the last frame in that Toy Story context with Ben just looking at him with pity in his eyes like they all did with the “new” Buzz. I’m sure, deep down in my subconscious, that’s where the joke came from. Love some Toy Story!
